Breather for Gr-2 aspirants

- DC CORRESPONDENT

Students who were protesting against the certificate verification for Group II posts for the Telangana State Public Service Commission heaved a sigh of relief on Monday after the High Court stayed the process.

“Many students had submitted grievances regarding the mismatch of barcodes on their OMR sheet and the question paper. Ranks have been released with consecutive hall ticket numbers in sequential order which never happens in a competitive exam. There should be more transparency in the process and the court stay will yield some answers,” said Mr Yella Swamy, a student of Osmania University.

Earlier, ABVP activists protested against the certificate verification and about 20 of them were detained by the police. Abids additional inspector N. Mohan Rao said, “It was a preventative arrest. We picked up the protestors from Stanley College where the verification was going on and the process continued smoothly after that.”

“About 600 candidates who cleared the exam had used whiteners in their answer sheets. According to the High Court’s order, these answer sheets should not be evaluated. Our demand is to strike these names of the list,” said ABVP member Javvaji Dileep.

Congress spokesperson Mahesh K said, “Many students give the public service examination with high hopes. The TSPSC has not replied to questions regarding mismatching bar codes, use of whitener and release of results without announcing the cutoff. The court order questions the credibility of the public service commission.”
