A day after they unearthed the illegal assets of Kukatpally sub-registrar Srinivasa Rao, Anti-Corruption Bureau officials on Wednesday raided properties owned by Balanagar sub-registrar Mohammed Yousuf, who was also allegedly involved in the Miyapur land scam. The ACB sleuths unearthed disproportionate assets worth `2.36 crore in his possession.

The officials raided nine places, some of them owned by the relatives of the official and benamis.

Yousuf, who is under suspension now, had purchased two expensive houses and a flat in Hyderabad.

He also owned four acres of land in Shankarpally, ACB sleuths revealed.

“He owns an independent house in Humayunnagar worth `95 lakh and another house in Gudimalkapur worth `70 lakh. He also owns a flat in Basheerbagh worth `18 lakh. These are values mentioned in the documents, the market rate will be much higher,” said ACB DCP M. Madhusudhan Reddy.

Officials said that Yousuf made his in-laws and brother his benamis.

“Some document writers are also his benamis. We raided their houses as well. Yousuf’s office was also raided,” said Mr Reddy.

The ACB has booked a case against Yousuf for possessing disproportionate assets.

During the raid, ACB sleuths found that he had three separate bank accounts and savings of `2.95 lakh. They also recovered `2.34 lakh in cash from his house. Two two-wheelers and a Hyundai i10 car were also seized.

The officials are now investigating if Yousuf too had made investments in private companies or had opened shell companies like Kukatpally sub-registrar Srinivasa Rao, whose properties were raided on Tuesday.

“We have seized many documents, now we are verifying them,” said DCP Madhusudhan Reddy.

Earlier this month, as the Cyberabad police officials started digging deeper into the Miyapur land scam, the complicity of two more government officials had come to light. The police then booked cases against Yousuf and Medchal sub-registrar Ramesh Chandra Reddy for their involvement in the land scam.
