Work-from-home keeps techies dry

Techies working in IT corridor in Hyderabad are looking to use the "work from home" option on rainy days this season to avoid commuting on inundated roads and having to negotiate their way through congestion­s.

A few days ago, the city received nearly 9 cm of rain that submerged several roads. Traffic police issued instructio­ns to citizens not to venture out unless it was important up to 11 am.

Techies faced the brunt of incessant rains last season when the road from Jubilee Hills to Madhapur was badly damaged resulting in traffic moving at snail's pace for few days.

it. "Some of my colleagues take one-and-ahalf to two hours daily to reach office. When it rains, it takes them four to five hours, especially those coming from slightly distant places. Exercising the workfrom-home option is a lot better on such days," he said. Mr K. Manohar, who travels from the ECIL area to Madhapur every day, said "Rather than wasting time and energy on the road and reaching office late, it will be wise if companies use resources effectivel­y to ensure productivi­ty. IT firms should be willing to extend such a facility to their employees ."
