Medical devices park opened
Hyderabad’s medical technology innovation and manufacturing ecosystem got a big boost on Saturday with the inauguration of dedicated medical devices park in Sultanpur village of Ameenpur mandal in Sangareddy district.
The park was inaugurated by ministers K.T. Rama Rao and Harish Rao after which they went around an exhibition on medical technology.
At the inauguration, Mr Rama Rao said, “The park will strengthen The medical devices park would be the biggest in the country. In the first phase, over 1,000 firms would manufacture various medical devices.

Firms manufacturing 14 medical devices related to ultrasound scans, implants for orthopaedic, neurological, dialysis etc. were given allotment letters on Saturday.
The facility will be working very closely with IIT- Hyderabad for medical technology utilisation for alloy works, plastics and medical electronics along with biotech like DNA protein and reagents.
IIT-H will provide expertise in terms of image, voice and data processing.
The medical devices park will have research and manufacturing units so that there is constant update in technology. The park is located on over 250 acres of land and is a short distance from the Rajiv Gandhi International airport.
The park has developed facilities for support innovation, research and development and industrial scale manufacturing along with a dedicated support ecosystem of warehouses, logistics, electricity, waste and waste management.
With maximum medical devices being imported, the costs are very high but with manufacturing within India there is a possibility of reduction in costs, ultimately bringing down healthcare expenses.
