Eighty-seven persons, 72 of them majors and 15 minors were caught by SHE teams for harassing women in the city last month.

Two persons were booked under the Criminal Law Amendment Act of 2013, two others under IPC, 10 of them for petty cases and others were counselled.

In one of the incidents, the victim approached the police with a complaint of social media harassment.

She said that an unknown person had befriended her and her sister on Facebook. He took photographs of the victim and created a fake profile and started harassing and blackmailing the family.

He started posting the photos of her sisters, cousins and family members in the fake account and also shared photos of the victim with his friend who is a 17-year-old minor.

In another incident, a woman working for a software company as researcher filed a complaint that a former colleague was harassing, stalking, using foul language and torturing her since one and a half years. The victim had expressed disinterest and had kept ignoring and avoiding him politely.

She approached the local PS, where the respondent was warned over phone by the SI to stop harassment. After lying low for a while he started harassing her again. The victim then approached She Teams for help, who caught the accused Abhishek Peddibhotla and handed him over to Cyber Crimes police station.

“Victims need not suffer in silence. The SHE Teams and Hyderabad City Police are just a call or click away. You can dial 100 or use Hawkeye mobile app in case of an emergency,” said police officials.
