Vendors encroach Pardiwada stretch

Motorists travelling through Pardiwada in Puranapul are having trouble negotiating the roads because of encroachers who have set up shops and eateries there.

The road connects colonies in Fateh Darwaza, Kamatipura, Misrigunj and Hussainialam with National Highway 44.

The stretch which passes through Pardiwada has been encroached upon by several push carts, eateries and other shops.

Local residents earn their livelihood through the sale of fruits and vegetables.

“They just park their carts and auto-rickshaws on the road and arrange their produce around it,” said Arjun Yadav, a resident of Golla Khidkhi.

“It makes that stretch of road narrow, especially during the morning hours, making it difficult for motorists to get past them,” he added.

Locals complained that a few eateries prepare and serve snacks right on the road, in the evenings.

“Customers park their vehicles on the road, and they block the movement of traffic,” said Mohd Sadiq, a motorist who regularly passes through the stretch of road.

“We cannot fight with them or approach the police every time,” he added.

People want the police to counsel local vendors and dissuade them from setting up their stalls on the road. “They can go to some open area nearby,” said Syed Mohid, an engineering student from Hamalibasthi Kamatipura.

G. Shyamsunder, the inspector of Hussaini Alam, said that patrolling vehicles regularly passed through that area to clear obstructions to the traffic.

“We will talk to the vendors and urge them against creating obstacles for other road users,” the inspector said.
