Denied bicycle, boy runs away from home

- DC CORRESPONDENT

Upset at his parents for not buying him a bicycle, a 12-year-old boy ran away from his home at Kukatpally Housing Board. Arif has been asking his parents to buy him a bicycle, but his parents couldn’t do so due to financial problems.

According to the police, Abdul Azeez, a resident of Yellammabanda in Kukatpally earns a livelihood by selling goggles on a footpath at Pragathinagar. His son Arif was earlier studying in a nearby madrasa.

Sunday, being a holiday, Arif accompanied his father to his roadside shop. After a couple of hours, Mr Abdul Azeez sent his son home saying that he will reach there after some time. But Arif did not reach home. Mr Abdul Azeez came to know this when he reached home in the evening. The family searched for Arif in the vicinity but in vain and finally lodged a complaint with the police. A missing case was registered.

Police said that for the past few days, Arif was pestering his parents to buy him a bicycle and this could be a reason for the boy going missing.

A year ago, while studying in the madrasa, one of the teachers had scolded Arif for not maintaining discipline. “At that time too, he had run away from the madrasa, but returned after a week. So far there are no clues on his whereabouts. The CCTV cameras in the surroundings are also being verified,” said Mr Saideshwar, S-I, KPHB police station.
