New TS districts not recognised: Revanth

- DC CORRESPONDENT

TD working president A. Revanth Reddy on Monday in an open letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao stated that the Centre had still not recognised the new districts that were recognised a year ago.

The Centre was still continuing fund allocation as per the old districts, he said in the letter one year after the Chief Minister re-organised the districts and increased their number from 10 to 31.

The Centre had announced tax relief to nine old backward districts till March 1, 2020. As part of the subsidy, 15 per cent subsidy on investment will be provided by Centre, he said.

He said the Centre on December 20, 2016, had released `900 crore as special relief to these nine districts.

Mr Revanth Reddy said that though the state government had made a request to Centre seeking extension of the special relief to the remaining 21 districts, the Centre had not taken any decision.

He said the Centre had not notified the new districts so far in its official gazette, with the result that the new districts were unable to get the subsidies.

He said for enrolment of PAN card, addresses conmentioning the new districts were being refused. He said even for zonal recruitments, the Centre was objecting to including the names of new districts as they are not found in the 1975 Presidential Order. He said without a proper exercise on legal issues the Chief Minister had executed the district re-organisation and failed to provide any infrastructure like staff and buildings at the new collectorates.
