The ban on the sale of crackers in Delhi, ordered by the Supreme Court citing noise and air pollution is unfortunat­e. The festival is celebrated only for a few hours on one day of the year. As regards noise pollution, what about the sound of vehicle horns throughout the year? Shaik Bade Saheb

Hyderabad The regulation­s on bursting crackers between 10 pm and 6 am is seldom followed, as many people start celebratin­g after 10 pm. When this simple regulation is not followed, there will be questions on the efficacy of the ban on cracker sales. N. Nagarajan
