IMA patents new logo for MBBS docs
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has patented a new trade logo to establish the identity of MBBS doctors and wants doctors to start using the logo.
The IMA said doctors must use the logo on their coats, cars and clinical establishments to counter quackery and fake doctors, as only MBBS and higher medical degree holders will be permitted to use the new logo. The patented logo will also differentiate them from AYUSH doctors.
Dr K.K. Aggarwal, president of IMA, said, “We have patented the logo to make the differentiation easier. Otherwise, there is too much of confusion. But for that to be a success, the doctors have to use it.” Alleged negligence by doctors at a private hospital claimed the life of C. Hemalatha of Sangeethanagar, Kukatpally, who had come for delivery on Saturday.
Police said Hemalatha’s husband Prem Kumar had admitted her at the Add Life Hospital in Kukatpally on Saturday after she developed labour pains. The doctors performed a C-Section and Hemalatha delivered a male child. After the surgery, Hemalatha developed health complications and doctors told Mr Kumar to shift her to another hospital.
The family rushed her to a different hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.
Based on his complaint, a case of causing death due to negligence has been registered against the hospital management and the doctors.
“We are collecting the evidence. Based on that, the investigation will proceed.” said Kukatpally sub-inspector P. Suresh.
