Maneka’s ‘uncivil’ jibe viral

Bareilly (UP), Feb. 17: Union women and child development minister, Maneka Gandhi lost her cool while reviewing the welfare works here and chided an official, a video of which has gone viral on social media.

Ms Gandhi is seen chiding the official who is said to be the supply inspector in the public distribution department.

“Have some shame... Don’t you have any honour? A man lives for his honour and not like this...People are saying all the bad things about you,” the Union minister said on hearing complaints of corruption against the officer.

Union minister for women and child development Maneka Gandhi was seen reprimanding an official during a meeting in Pilibhit, her Parliamentary constituency.

In a video of the incident, the visibly angry minister is heard scolding the officer of accepting bribe. The video shows an angered Maneka Gandhi rebuking the official saying, “You are getting fat like a ‘ha **** zaada’.”

Ms Maneka was on a tour of Bahedi in Pilibhit and was talking to the local representatives and the man who was the target of her anger is a supply officer responsible for distributing grains to Below Poverty Line scheme beneficiaries.

She was told about the complaints against him which is when she reportedly lost her calm and scolded the officer. She then asked him if it feels good to indulge in corruption.

She said that she will not tolerate exploitation of the poor in her constituency. She said she will demand an inquiry against the officer and will make sure that he gets suspended.

Later, while speaking to reporters, Ms Gandhi said “Let him make whatever allegations he wants to make against me.”
