-

The Rachakonda police on Saturday nabbed two persons, who were working as daily wage earners, for stealing televisions from the firm they were working.

The police said that the arrested belong to Uttar Pradesh.

They had sold the televisions in reduced rates to residents in neighbouring villages.

The arrested were identified as Guddu, 22, and Rasheed, 26. Police also seized televisions worth `5.10 lakh from them.

ACP Ibrahimpatnam S. Mallareddy said that the duo was working at Z Inuiro Industries located at Kandukur.

For the past few months, they were working at the firm on daily wages but as they were addicted to alcohol and their earnings were not enough, they decided to make easy money.

As per their plan, they started stealing televisions from their company.

“Whenever they were told to dispose of damaged items from the unit, they picked up televisions along with damaged articles. After disposing of the damaged articles, they sold off the televisions to the residents of Banjaragadda Thanda in the neighbourhood” the ACP said.

In the past three months, they had stolen 17 televisions, including 10 LCD sets, six LED sets and a plasma television. Based on their confession, the televisions were recovered from the buyers.

The arrested were produced before the court and remanded.
