3 HELD FOR CONNING WITH BLACK MAGIC

Mirchowk police of South Zone arrested a couple and their associate for conning people under the pretext of ‘unearthing wealth’ with black magic and giving them rice-pullers.

The arrested were identified as Mehtab Hussain alias Adil, 40, and his wife, Sakina Fathima alias Adil, 36, and Mohammed Yousuf alias Junglee Yusuf, 44.

The arrest was made based on a complaint from Rustum Patel, 42, a businessma­n from Yakutpura, stating that Adil had cheated him by claiming that they are well-known conjurers and had unearthed several wealth concealed by ancestors. “To relinquish the power, they had to perform black magic and also induced the victim to give rice puller and collected huge amounts from him,” said South Zone DCP V. Satyanaray­ana.

As Rustom believed the scamster, he was threatened with dire consequenc­es and a lot of his money was lost.

“The couple exploit innocent people by taking advantage of their bad times and loot ed money, gold ornaments and other kinds of property. In total, they collected approximat­ely `5 crore from Rustum.

“With the collected amount, the couple travelled to Hong Kong and other places in India and also invested the money to expand their furniture business,” the official added.

The arrested were booked under relevant sections of IPC and Black Magic Act and sent in judicial remand.
