Cyberabad Police nabbed a five-member gang of fraudsters including three engineering graduates who were involved in cheating Amazon. The suspects ordered products through the online portal and after collecting the product, raised a complaint that they had received an empty pack and this way got the product twice.

The fraudsters created 800 accounts on Amazon portal with 800 names and different SIM cards for each purchase and placed orders for 800 mobiles and got 1600 mobiles in the past one year. They used pre-activated sim cards to book the orders. Cops recovered `10.75 lakh cash, 556 pre-activated SIM cards, 21 mobiles and laptops from the arrested persons identified as Konduri Kumar, Yeruva Reddy, Yeruva Reddy, Dodla Ramesh and Vodafone executive Neetipally Lova Krishna. The Sim card supplier from Kolkata is absconding.

Dinesh, Pradeep and Praveen had completed engineering with around 70 percent marks. According to the police, Amazon Seller Services during a verification found around 300 products worth over `15.90 lakh were delivered to customers due to fraudulent acts of the customers and lodged a complaint with Cyber Crime Police of Cyberabad.

On investigation, it was revealed that the number of fraudulent transactions crossed 1200 and all the products were delivered at Ameerpet within a radius of two kilometres. Based on the clues and technical evidences and after analysing the contact numbers, delivery address and the duration of the transactions, cops traced the suspects.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner VB Sajjanar said that Dinesh and Pradeep came to the city in search of jobs. In March 2017, they ordered for a pair of shoes through Amazon, but after receiving the product they alleged that the pack was empty and got another product.
