Doc suspended for fake certificate

-

Dr T. Kiran Kumar Sai of Vamshi Hospital in Pedapally has been suspended for six months for issuing false medical certificates to two employees who were working in a quarry.

Dr Sai had issued a medical certificate for three years and seven months to Yadah Suresh, and for two years and five months to Peetla Gopal. Both certificates were contested before the Telangana Medical Council by the company they worked for.

The company queried how a private physician could issue a medical certificate for so many years and on what basis.

Dr Ravinder Reddy, chairman of the TS Medical Council, says the Council has investigated the case and found that the physician was not eligible to give the certificate. “The certificates have been wrongly given and hence a suspension of six months has been issued.”

According to the medical board rules, a physician can give a certificate for only 15 days, a civil surgeon for two months, and more than that requires the consent of a medical board. A 17-year-old Class IX student was sexually assaulted by her neighbour on Thursday under the Langar Houz police station limits.

The accused was identified as Deepraj, 21, unemployed and a resident of Prashant Nagar in Langar Houz. “The accused and the victim were neighbours. The accused had lured the victim saying that he was in love with her and convinced her to come along with him
