TS Medical Council suspends 3 doctors

Physicians suspended for improper practice

- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD, JUNE 7

Three doctors have been suspended by the Telangana State Medical Council for improper practice and giving false assurances to patients.

Dr Chandra Bhushan, senior orthopaedic surgeon who had carried out limb lengthening surgery on techie Nikhil Reddy, has been suspended from practice for two years. The council conducted a re-inquiry on the directions of the High Court and found that Dr Bhushan had wrongly counselled techie Nikhil Reddy, assuring him that he would be able to walk in two months. This did not happen and Mr Nikhil Reddy was not able to walk properly even after two years.

Dr P. Namratha of Srushti Test Tube Centre has been suspended for five years and banned for life from practice of surrogacy. Dr Namrata had carried out the surrogacy procedure on Ms Chandana and Mr Manmad Kumar of Nizampet which went wrong.

Dr Sona Kakar, psychiatrist of Columbus Hospital, Begumpet, was suspended for six months as she failed to counsel a couple who were having marital discord. Ms Haritha Reddy had approached Dr Kakar for couple counselling but every session was taken singly. The council demanded video recordings of the session but they were not submitted.

Dr Mamata Deendayal of Infertility Institute and Research Centre, Secunderabad, and Dr K.L.N. Prasad of Kasthuri Hospital, Bhongir, were issued warning for improper practices.
