PD Act invoked against 2 men

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Commission­er V.C. Sajjanar detained a notorious land grabber on Friday under P.D. Act who resides in Suraram village. Pothuraju Ramchandru­du, 53, has been involved in five cheating and forgery of documents cases in Bachupally, Dundigal and Medchal police station limits. In a separate incident, the South Zone Police invoked PD Act against a 41-year-old man, involved in more than 17 cases in various police stations of Maharashtr­a and Hyderabad on Friday. “Amjad Khwaja Ameen Shaik alias Amja 41, a resident of Meera Road East, Thane, Maharashtr­a has been involved in over 17 cases in various police stations in Mumbai and one in Charminar,” police said. He has been sent to Chanchalgu­da Central Prison. “He is a notorious interstate robbery gang member involved in snatching in Mumbai. While he was acquitted in some of the cases, few other cases are under trial,” South Zone police said. Recently, in March, Amja and his associates, committed a dacoity and robbed around 3.5 Kg gold ornaments (including raw gold) from a workshop at Moosabowli under Charminar police station the limits. Charminar police had arrested him and sent him to Judicial remand along with his associates.
