Told parents she was going to take a nap Girl ends life over Eamcet rank

-

Unable to cope up with the poor ranking of her EAMCET result for the second time, 19-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging on Wednesday at Rajendranagar.

G. Suresh, inspector of Rajendranagar police station said that Shivani, 19, was an Intermediate student who was depressed over her poor EAMCET ranking, which led her to take this step.

Chandraiah, father of the victim who runs a Kirana store said that Shivani was sad about getting a rank below 15,000 in the recent EAMCET results, as compared to her earlier rank of 6,000 in last year's exam. “She wanted admission into B.Sc Agriculture Studies. But, after the results were announced, she was unhappy. On Wednesday she told her mother that she is going to the first floor to take a nap, but when she did not return until evening, we went to check and found her hanging,” said the father.

“When Shivani told her parents about going upstairs, they thought she wanted some time to recover from the depression she was going through after her results,” added the official. Officials also found a suicide note which had the words “I want to die” written 15 to 20 times,” said G. Suresh.

A case has been registered at the Rajendranagar police station under Section 174 of Cr.PC (suspicious death). A juvenile boy was caught by the Malkajigiri CCS police on Friday for allegedly committing theft at a house in Swaroopnagar a month ago. The police recovered 16.3 tola gold ornaments and an electronic tab, all worth `5 lakh

“The boy was a family friend of Sri Parika Rama Krishna, 44, the owner of the house where the theft took place. Rama Krishna and his wife had gone to Kerala in May, leaving their gold unguarded, as they did not suspect any wrongdoing. In their absence, the boy visited their home when the complainant’s brotherin-law was staying. When the latter went out, the juvenile stole the gold articles from the cupboard,” said K.R. Naga Raju, DCP Crimes, Rachakonda.

After a few weeks Rama Krishna realised that his gold articles were missing, when he checked the cupboard. Following this, he lodged a complaint with Uppal police station in May end. The officials traced the boy with all the stolen articles kept in an almirah at his home, on Friday. The gold articles have been seized and the boy has been sent for further investigation to Uppal police station.

The father of the juvenile is a DCM van driver and his mother is a cook, who often stayed out due to their busy work schedules and thus, the parents claimed about being unaware of the stolen property at home, said the official.
