Justice Thottathil Bhaskaran Nair Radhakrish­nan was sworn in as new Chief Justice of the Hyderabad High Court for the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on Saturday. Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan (Centre) administer­ed the oath at a function in the Raj Bhavan. TS Chief Minister K. Chandrasek­har Rao (right) was also present on the occasion.

Justice Thottathil Bhaskaran Nair Radhakrish­nan was on Saturday sworn in Chief Justice of the Hyderabad High Court.

Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan administer­ed the oath of office to Justice Radhakrish­nan at a ceremony at Raj Bhavan in the presence of Chief Minister K. Chandrasek­har Rao.

Justice Radhakrish­nan is the first Chief Justice after state bifurcatio­n. Justice Kalyan Sen Gupta assumed the office of Chief Justice of the AP High Court on May 21, 2013, and retired on May 6, 2015. Since then, the High Court has been functionin­g with an Acting Chief Justice.

Justice Radhakrish­nan, formerly a judge of the Kerala High Court, began his practice as an advocate in 1983, in Thiruvanan­thapuram.

A native of Kerala, Justice Radhakrish­nan was born on April 29, 1959, at Kollam where he received his early education at St Joseph School and Government Boys’ High School. He studied law at KGF Law College.

In his career spanning over three decades, he has practiced in different fields of law particular­ly civil, constituti­onal and administra­tive.

He was appointed judge of the Kerala High Court in 2004 and worked as Acting Chief Justice of Kerala High Court in 2015. He was elevated as Chief Justice of the Chhattisga­rh High Court in 2017.
