City mayor Bonthu Rammohan has directed the engineering officials to take up work pertaining to potholes immediately by deploying additional labour and teams wherever necessary as most of the roads have been damaged due to continuous rains for the past few days.

He stated that though recarpeting of roads had been taken up before the monsoon, with the incessant rains, some roads have buckled under the pressure and several potholes have been identified, which are causing a lot of inconvenience to the citizens.

Mr Rammohan has instructed the engineering officials of state road development corporation and the GHMC to coordinate with one another and take up the pothole repair work on a war footing.

He said that the GHMC had only one bitumen hot mix plant at Chudi Bazar which carried the material to different parts of the city. This had been causing the inordinate delay.

After detailed discussions with the GHMC Commissioner D.B. Janardhan Reddy, Mr Rammohan has directed the engineering officials to provide temporary BT hot mix plants at Yapral, Fathullaguda, Khaitlapur and other GHMC sites by calling short tenders within three days so that the temporary BT hot mix plants could be organised within a week to ten days.

Mr Rammohan, along with the municipal corporation commissioner, held a review meeting with chief engineers, SEs, EEs along with experts from top universities to take up road restoration works on priority basis.
