Seventy days after a 38year-old cook went missing, the Rajendranagar police apprehended the missing man's wife and her paramour, who allegedly killed him, burnt the body and threw the remains into Musi river.

The wife, 32-year-old Maheshwari, along with her paramour Sanjay, killed Anand Kumar, her husband. She staged a drama that her husband was missing, but the police cracked the case.

Rajendranagar police on Tuesday apprehended Maheshwari and Sanjay, 24, an auto driver from Gandhamguda and recovered the remains from Musi river.

According to sources, Maheshwari and Anand Kumar, who are natives of Lingampally village in Kodangal mandal of Mahabubnagar, got married 10 years ago and were blessed with two children. They migrated to the city in 2011.

A year ago, she met Sanjay, and their friendship turned into an extra-marital affair. Unhappy with her husband, she hatched a plan to eliminate him.

On May 7, she called Sanjay who held Anand's legs, while Maheshwari strangulated him with a wire. They burnt the body in an open place at Gandhanguda. The next morning, the remains of the body were thrown into Musi river,” said the sources. The wife lodged a missing complaint with the police on May 21, following which a two-month probe was carried out by the police. Based on the information from local people the wife and her paramour were questioned, and they confessed.
