For those interested in knowing the flagship programmes of the TRS government, there is no need to go around the state. A visit to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s home constituency of Gajwel, is enough to see them all. The Chief Minister is likely to inaugurate this project on August 17 or 18.

The state government has been lavishing funds on the development of Gajwel constituency. The development of Pandavulacheruvu, which is already changing ever since CM KCR was elected from Gajwel, is one among them. The development has been handed over to the Telangana Tourism department and plans are afoot to develop it as a mini tank bund. The state government initially estimated that it would cost `2 crore but that has been revised to `4.4 crore.

The Irrigation department developed one and half kilometre length of the Pandavulacheruvu bund and later the tourism department began developing this as a mini tank bund. Officer on Special duty of Municipal Administration V Krishna is overseeing the project.

Speaking to this newspaper, Krishna said as a part of the beautification, the tourism department was undertaking several works. He said that a sculpture cum cascade of Pandavulache-ruvu has been included among the exhibits along with projects like Haritha Haram, Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, Rythu Bandhu, Kaleswaram project, 24x7 power supply and others.

Telangana Tourism Development Corporation managing director Manohar said the project has been completed and was waiting for inauguration. He said that the mini tank bund of Pandavulacheruvu would be called “Bathukamma Ghat”.
