Tech issues hamper museum heist probe

-

The South Zone police that is closely investigating the sensational Nizam museum heist, is facing technical problems in cracking the case as not all the locations in the museum’s vicinity and other parts of old city are equipped with CC cameras. “We are having trouble while retrieving the footage around the place to track the two men who were caught in the CC tape behind the museum's premises as the whole area lacks an equipped surveillance system”, a source from South Zone Police said.

The CC camera which recorded them getting on a 135cc Bajaj Pulsar bike with a backpack containing the Nizam’s priceless relics failed to get a clear picture of the number plate, thereby delaying the investigation, the police said.

The South Zone Police of Hyderabad attempted to use ‘reverse analysis’ to track the two men through various CC cameras installed in the vicinities but in vain.

As they were not covered in any of the cameras inside the premises, the officials caught them in the outdoor camera which showed them leaving the area after the burglary and attempts were made to follow their trail from thereon, police sources said.

“While our efforts were on to keep a tab on their movements in the area with the help of CC cameras and other tangible clues, we hit a roadblock because of the lack of properly equipped cameras. We are facing technical problems with enhancing the footage collected”, said an official, adding that the police is left with no solid clue that could be processed further.
