Security up for second Test

The Rachakonda Police has made elaborate arrangemen­ts for the upcoming India vs West Indies Second test cricket match, which will be held over the weekend at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Uppal from October 12 till October 16.

The officials are coordinati­ng with teams from security, traffic, law and order, armed reserve forces and fire department among others for a smooth procession.

As many as 1,500 police personals will be deployed for the match and over 100 CCTV cameras will be specially installed for the event, from vehicle checking point to parking places in order to cover the complete area, said the Police Commission­er of Rachakonda, Mahesh Bhagwat IPS.

“A joint command and control room will be set up by the south ground floor to monitor the CC cameras feed and for an immediate action.

“Apart from this, special parties will be deployed to meet with any contingenc­y and proper anti-sabotage checks with bomb disposal teams will continue round the clock checks till the end of match” he said, adding that special teams will be deployed to check the antisocial elements too.

Separate SHE teams / Anti Eve-Teasing teams are deployed to control eve teasing against the woman/girls in stadium and vicinity of the stadium.

Separate Vendor Supervisin­g Team is deployed to keep watch on the vendors to ensure sale of eatables at prices prescribed by the authoritie­s.

“The antecedent­s of the personnel, who are being engaged by the sponsors/ vendors related to the match, are thoroughly checked and passes with photos issued to them.

“Effective communicat­ion system is being maintained also with the allocation of VHF sets to every SubInspect­or and above his rank for quick response and also a control room was installed.

“The scanners that are installed at the stadium will allow police and other security personnel to detect explosives and other prohibited material inside the venue” said Mr Bhagwat, adding that the services of bomb disposal team and sniffer dogs were pressed into service to ensure safety in the stadium and parking place.

Check posts were set up at all the entry points of stadium to carry out anti sabotage check and frisking of persons.

An escort vehicle of law and order is being arranged along with escort vehicle of City Security Wing. A Road Clearance Party, specifical­ly for route clearance was spared for congestion free entry and exit of the players and VIPs, VVIPs into the stadium.

Adequate signage boards will be erected at different places to make the viewers reach the Rajiv Gandhi stadium easily.
