25-year-old records video of gang, stabbed

In a frightenin­g incident on the city outskirts, a 25-year-old activist was stabbed to death by a history-sheeter for recording a video of the latter creating a ruckus on the road at Mailardevp­ally on Thursday night. The police arrested four people and launched a hunt to nab the absconding persons.

The incident took place at about 10.45 pm on Thursday, when Mohammed Mustaq, 25, a social activist and BCom graduate from Mustafanag­ar was on his way to attend a function. Mustaq saw a group of people creating Ruckus on the road holding knives and shouting and pulled out his mobile phone to record the happenings.

Rajendrana­gar ACP Ashok Chakravart­hy said that the prime accused Sharoon, a historyshe­eter was involved in six cases in Hyderabad including that of murder, attempt to murder, robbery and Arms Act. Sharoon, a ganja addict was released from jail about two months back.

On Thursday night, Sharoon along with six others — Farhan, Abdul Altaf, 19, an intermedia­te student, Mohd Arbaz, Afroz, Samad and another person, a waterworks employee, went to the Hillocks at Shastripur­am where they saw a group of teenagers playing cards.

Sharoon approached one Shakeeb and asked him to give money to purchase ganja. He took `150 from Shakeeb and stabbed him in the abdomen for not giving money. Shakeeb started running for his life and escaped from Sharoon’s group.

Meanwhile, Sharoon and his associates reached Jawed Pan shop at Owaisi Hills road on three bikes and started shouting and injured a tea vendor.

“Mustaq who was on his way to attend a function stopped on seeing the nuisance and started recording the video. Sharoon who saw Mustaq, got angry and jumped and stabbed Mustaq in the chest. Mustaq’s elder brother Abrar who was nearby, rushed to the spot and tried to save his brother, but he was also stabbed. With the help of locals, Abrar shifted Maroon to Osmania General Hospital, but he was declared brought dead,” said ACP Ashok Chakravart­hy.

The ACP said that based on CCTV footage and eye-witness account, prime accused Sharoon, Farhan, Altaf and Arbaz were arrested within one-and-a-half hours. They are booked under Sections 147, 148, 302, 307 r/w 149 of IPC.
