Suspicions behind leaking of GO on consent to CBI

The Telugu Desam government has reportedly leaked the GO of withdrawing consent to the CBI to carry out checks and investigations in Andhra Pradesh to avoid CBI checks and inquiries in the coming days.

The IT raids troubled the Telugu Desam leaders, including MPs and industrialists for the past few months in the state.

Now, the demand for a CBI inquiry into the attack on YSR Congress President and opposition leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is in court and there is the possibility of a CBI inquiry to that case.

Hence, the TD government as a precautionary measure has issued the GO making the state government’s consent mandatory.

Principal secretary to AP government, AR Anuradha issued the GOMs.No.176 withdrawing consent to CBI in AP State under section 6 of the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946 on November 8.

But the GO was kept secret till November 15 and late night on Thursday, the TD government leaked the GO to some Telugu Desam leaders and vernacular media.

Senior TD leaders, on condition of anonymity said that the TD government feared repetition of the Tamil Nadu episode in Andhra Pradesh State in the coming days after the IT raids against TD leaders and industrialists.

They said that Jagan Mohan Reddy had knocked on the doors of the Court seeking judicial or CBI inquiry into the knife attack case.

They said that if the Court ordered a CBI inquiry than it would damage the reputation of the TD government among the masses and hence AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu after conducting discussions with other leaders decided to avoid a CBI inquiry and issued a GO about the withdrawal of consent.

They said that the withdrawal would be helpful to the party but it would tarnish TD’s image in the future among the masses as the people were smart and observed everything in politics.
