Fog alert extended by one more day

Deccan Chronicle - - City -

Hyderabad: The fog alert given by the Indian Meteorological Department has been extended by another day, as the fog and mist-like conditions are likely to prevail over Telangana state and Andhra Pradesh on January 14 as well. Earlier, the warning was limited till only January 13. As there has been no reduction in the fog in the atmosphere, the alert was sent out. A fog alert is declared when the horizontal visibility becomes less than 1 km and experts advise people not to use vehicles during the night as the visibility would be poor. The formation of fog is due to the change in the direction of winds. Earlier, the state was receiving North Eastern winds which were cooler. But now, the state is receiving winds from the South West, which is making the temperatures comparatively warmer.
