No ex­tra amount for ex­ist­ing con­nec­tions

Wa­ter Board of­fi­cials have ap­pealed to ap­pli­cants not to ad­di­tional amounts for ex­ist­ing con­nec­tions. This fol­lows in­for­ma­tion that some per­sons were de­mand­ing money to help ex­ist­ing con­sumers get a wa­ter con­nec­tion un­der Mis­sion Bha­gi­ratha.

The Wa­ter Board said Mis­sion Bha­gi­ratha was aimed at pro­vid­ing drink­ing wa­ter to house­holds that do not have a wa­ter con­nec­tion and was not for ex­ist­ing cus­tomers.

Ac­cord­ing to sources, some mis­cre­ants had used the name of Wa­ter Board of­fi­cials and de­manded `40,000 per each con­nec­tion in Manikonda to give a Ur­ban Mis­sion Bha­gi­ratha con­nec­tion. The res­i­dents have wa­ter con­nec­tions for which

■ BOARD would only col­lect charges for new wa­ter con­nec­tions.

Asked about the com­plaints, a se­nior of­fi­cial said the Wa­ter Board would not col­lect any money from ex­ist­ing cus­tomers. The board would only col­lect charges for new wa­ter con­nec­tions. He ap­pealed to con­sumers to alert the Wa­ter Board if any­one ap­proached them for ad­di­tional charges.
