Fuel prices up by `2 in TS

Hyderabad: The prices of petrol and diesel increased by `2 on Monday, with a litre of petrol costing `74.33 and diesel `69.67 across Telangana state. According to reports, global crude oil rates gained strength after top oil producers decided to cut supply, following which the price of oil recovered from levels below $50 a barrel registered in December.

Dealers attribute the price rise to the increase in barrel price. According to reports, global crude oil rates gained strength after top oil producers decided to cut supply, following which the price of oil recovered from levels below $50 a barrel registered in December.

Seven days ago, petrol cost was `72.33 and diesel `67.47 in the city. In the span of a week, petrol jumped by `1.96 and diesel by `2.20.

The increase in fuel prices was reported across the country. In Delhi, a litre of petrol cost `70.13, marking an increase of 38 paise. Diesel costs `64.18 a litre.

In Mumbai, petrol is now `75.77 per litre while diesel is `67.18, an increase of 38 paise and

52 paise, according to the Indian Oil Corporatio­n.

In Chennai, the price of petrol increased by 40 paise to `72.79, while diesel increased by 53 paise to `67.78 and in Kolkata, a litre of petrol costs `72.24 and diesel,

`65.95, marking an increase of 37 paise and

49 paise respective­ly.
