- DC CORRESPONDENT

Unidentified persons assaulted a septuagenarian at her house in LB Nagar on Sunday evening and robbed her of around 10 tola gold.

Rachakonda police are struggling to find footage of CCTV cameras and cellphone call data records to find if any phone number other than that of the lady was active in the house at the time of the crime.

They suspect the robber could be known to the lady.

On Sunday evening, E. Swarna Latha, 72, a resident of Rock Town Colony in LB Nagar stepped out for a walk.

When she returned home, she locked the main gate and went inside her room to take rest.

Suddenly, a person wearing masks and gloves entered the house and attacked Latha.

He landed fist blows on her face and took four gold bangles she was wearing.

While the suspect was searching for more things to rob inside the room, Latha called her daughter-inlaw Swetha over the phone and informed her about the incident.

But the suspect threatened the elderly woman and fled with gold chains kept inside an almirah. When Ms arrived, she Swetha took the

help of residents to shift Ms Latha to a nearby private hospital. She also complained to the police.

LB Nagar inspector V. Ashok Reddy said, “The suspect is said to have fled by jumping the compound wall of

the house. The elderly woman could not see his face, but it is suspected that he might be a known person. Efforts are on to analyse CCTV footage and call data records to identify the suspect.”
