Deserted homes haven for robbers

■ TWO BURGLARIES and two attempt to burgle at Sai Enclave and Shivanagar were reported on Monday.

■ IN ANOTHER incident, burglars made away with about 12 tola gold, half a kg of silver and `20k cash.

Burglars made good use of Pongal, when people leave for their native place for festivitie­s, to rob 17 and a half tolas of gold, over

0.5kg of silver and

`20,000 in cash in different incidents of crime in the past two days.

Alwal inspector Mr M. Mathaiah said two cases of burglary and two of attempt to burgle locked houses at Sai Enclave and Shivanagar were reported early on Monday.

Around five-and-ahalf tolas of gold ornaments and about 60 tolas of silver articles were stolen from two houses.

“CCTV camera footage have been recovered and the suspects do not seem like old offenders. The footage is being enhanced and a probe is on for clues,” said the inspector.

In another incident, burglars made away with about 12 tolas gold, half-a-kg of silver and `20,000 in cash from a house in Singarapu Colony at Vikarabad late on Sunday.

Vikarabad police could not find any fingerprin­ts at the scene of crime.

A case has been registered and a probe is on to identify the burglars, Vikarabad inspector Mr Sathaiah told journalist­s.
