Chief secy meets CEO, DGP on LS elections

■ Telangana state Chief electoral officer Rajat Kumar said that the enrolment of voters was going on and the CEC had given time up to January 25, but they would propose to extend the time up to February 4.

TS chief secretary S.K. Joshi on Saturday held a meeting with chief electoral officer (CEO) Rajat Kumar and director general of police (DGP) Mahendar Reddy over the forthcomin­g Lok Sabha elections. The Central Election Commission will hold video conference on January 22 to review the preparedne­ss of the state machinery for the electoral process.

Mr Rajat Kumar said that the Telangana Assembly elections were concluded recently and transfers of officials have ready been completed. He said that if necessary, they would request the Central Election Commission additional forces during the video conference.

He said that the enrolment of voters was going on and the CEC had given time up to January 25, but they would propose to extend the time up to February 4. He asked the voters to check their names and other details at polling stations. He said the commission has received 13 lakh objections so far.

Earlier, Mr Rajat Kumar held a meeting with GHMC commission­er Dana Kishore and other officials with regard to Hyderabad Urban area which has 24 Assembly constituen­cies. Mr Rajat Kumar said that the main aim of the meeting was to find out whether the electoral rolls were being taken proper care of, in the light of several complaints received about deletion of names.

He said final rolls will be published on February

22 and claims and objections which were to be raised by January 25 will be allowed up to April

2019.
