Minority institutio­ns yet to get 1st quarter funds

Most minority Institutio­ns have so far received only the first quarter’s allocation, even after entering the fourth quarter.

The state government has so far released only

`1,077.54 crore out of a budgetary allocation of

`1,973.41 crore, while the total expenses of these institutio­ns is `749.81 crore.

Of the released amount, the government has allocated `569.66 crore towards educationa­l and academic activities and, so far, only

`416.71 crore has been spent.

Under Shadi Mubarak scheme, `203.87 crore has been spent out of the released `280.51 crore.

The government did not release a single pie for Christian Finance Corporatio­n, Survey Commission­er of Wakf, T-PRIME 7 T-SEZ (Special Corridor for Minorities), constructi­on of Sikh Bhavan (Gurudwara), constructi­on of Christian Bhavan and Commission of Inquiries (Sudhir commission).

The budget had earmarked `12 crore for the Christian Finance Corporatio­n. According to sources, the corporatio­n is yet to prepare schemes.

A statement shows that over 65 per cent is earmarked for education and training, and almost

80 per cent is spent on education and allied activities and the Shadi Mubarak Scheme. The government released only the first quarter’s share for remaining schemes and programmes, except the Wakf Board, which has received the second quarter’s amount.

The government released `75 crore to the Wakf board and spent

`40 crore. Another `35 crore is pending clearance.

Though `160 crore was earmarked in the budget for bank-linked subsidy, only `40 crore has been sanctioned, while the expenditur­e on this head is only `18.86 crore.

Haj Committee got only

`1 crore out of the sanctioned `4 crore. Likewise, Dairatul Maarif il Osmania also got only `1.25 crore out of `5 crore.

In spite of less quantum of expenditur­e, release and expenditur­e status of the minorities’ welfare department was the best. Such institutio­ns had spent almost 70 per cent of funds released.
