Kavitha, 3 others have lowest LS attendance

Data reveal no MP from TS clocked 100% attendance ■

Ms Kalvakuntl­a Kavitha, Mr G. Sukhender Reddy and two others from among Telangana state’s 17 Lok Sabha MPs have registered the least attendance. Mr Reddy registered 47 per cent attendance; former MP Balka Suman, now elected as MLA, 52 per cent; and Ms Kavitha 57 per cent against the Lok Sabha average of 80 per cent.

According to the data maintained by PRS Legislativ­e Research, none of the MPs from Telangana clocked 100 per cent attendance.

Mr Konda Visweshwar Reddy, who was elected on a TRS ticket and moved to the Congress before the 2018 Assembly polls, is the most regular among the state’s MPs with 94 per cent attendance.

AIMIM chief Mr Asaduddin Owaisi registered 82 per cent attendance and is also among the most active participan­ts in Lok Sabha. He has asked 719 questions and was part of 62 debates.

TRS MP Mr Dayakar Pasunoori, elected from Warangal, has near zero participat­ion in the 16th Lok Sabha. He has participat­ed in just one debate, asked five questions and was part of one private member’s bill. His attendance is 57 per cent. He is followed by former Union Minister of State Bandaru Dattatreya, who asked 12 questions and participat­ed in three debates.

All MPs are supposed to ask a minimum of 285 questions during their term. Six MPs from the state have met the national average attendance and seven have asked more questions than suggested. The national average attendance by MPs is 80 per cent and participat­ion in debates 65.3 per cent.
