LAYWERS TO STRIKE FOR LAND, SOPS

Following a call given by the Bar Council of India, the Telangana Bar Council has decided to stage a protest march on February 12, from the Telangana High Court premises to the Governor's residence and submit a representa­tion on their demands, which included `20 lakh insurance cover for lawyers, stipend for new lawyers up to five years, pension for retired advocates, interest-free housing loans and medical claim facility.

Telangana Bar Council chairman A. Naras-imha Reddy and Bar Council of India chairman Manan Kumar Mishra had convened a meeting with the representa­tives of all State Bar Councils and High Court Bar Associatio­ns and passed a resolution to put pressure on the state government­s concerned for addressing the issues pertaining to advocates. It was also resolved that every Bar Associatio­n in the country should hold meetings and organize demonstrat­ions and protests in their respective state headquarte­rs on February12.

The lawyers also decided to submit representa­tions on their demands to the Prime Minister and the state Governors.
