- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD, FEB. 8

The police arrested a 27year-old advocate for allegedly lodging a false complaint stating that his SUV was stolen to avoid repaying a loan to a finance firm. Police said Syed Rahamatullah had purchased a secondhand SUV (AP03 AZ

0001) three years ago and was paying the EMI for some time to Axis Bank, Ranigunj. ACP T. Srinivas Reddy said Rahamatullah borrowed `12 lakh last year from Clix Finance India Unlimited, Banjara Hills, and cleared the Axis Bank loan. He painted the SUV in a different colour, changed the registration number, parked the vehicle at his native village in Sangareddy district and lodged a complaint with the Abids police that the SUV was stolen. Police said he did this to avoid repaying Clix Finance and to claim insurance. Inspector V. Lachiram of the CCSDD raided the house, recovered the SUV and arrested Rahamatullah.
