11-YEAR-OLD RESCUED FROM BONDED LABOUR

An 11-year-old girl who was being made to work in a house in the city was rescued from bonded labour. The girl was rescued by the Bachpan Bachao Andolan(BBA) organisati­on. which lodged a complaint with the Panjagutta police.

The girl was found working in the house of Sachin and Meena Agarwal at Erramanzil. Panjagutta inspector Srikanth Goud said the girl was made to work 12 hours a day for two months in “inhuman conditions”.

“They kept her as hostage and harassed her and did not pay wages,” Mr Goud said. The police has registered a case under IPC Sections 370 (exploitati­on), 344 (wrongful confinemen­t), Juvenile Justice Act and Prohibitio­n of Bonded Labour Act.
