Rachakonda SHE teams con­ducted a de­coy op­er­a­tion and ar­rested a doc­tor in Ibrahim­pat­nam for con­duct­ing il­le­gal pre­na­tal sex de­ter­mi­na­tion tests on Satur­day.

Ibrahim­pat­nam po­lice and the Rachakonda She Team as­sisted the District Med­i­cal and Health Of­fi­cer for con­duct­ing a de­coy op­er­a­tion on Prathyusha Scan­ning Cen­tre.

Ma­hesh M. Bhag­wat, Rachakonda po­lice com­mis­sioner said, “Ibrahim­pat­nam po­lice and the SHE team con­ducted a de­coy op­er­a­tion. We sent a woman con­sta­ble who was six months preg­nant, and asked her to un­dergo a sex de­ter­mi­na­tion ex­am­i­na­tion through me­di­a­tor Jan­ga­iah, who ran SS Di­ag­nos­tic cen­tre, ad­ja­cent to this one.”

When the woman con­sta­ble ap­proached the doc­tor, he con­ducted a scan, charged her

`7,000, and dis­closed the gen­der of the baby.

Fol­low­ing this, the de­coy team ap­pre­hended Kishore, and seized `1,000, an ul­tra­sound scan­ning ma­chine and other equip­ment.

Mr Bhag­wat said the doc­tor was run­ning this scan­ning cen­tre for three years with the help of Jan­ga­iah. “We are also go­ing to com­plain to the In­dian Med­i­cal As­so­ci­a­tion,” he added.

The Ibrahim­pat­nam po­lice reg­is­tered a case un­der Sec­tion 420 and 406 of IPC and Sec.

23 of PCPNDT Act, 1994 and sent the ac­cused to cus­tody.
