Man sets woman, son ablaze af­ter tiff

A man killed his wife and set her and his four-month-old son ablaze, fol­low­ing a quar­rel with his wife on Satur­day night.

The in­ci­dent came to light on Sun­day, af­ter lo­cals at Kon­da­pur vil­lage no­ticed the charred bod­ies and alerted the po­lice.

At around 9 am on Sun­day, res­i­dents of Kon­da­pur vil­lage spot­ted charred bod­ies and im­me­di­ately alerted the Ghatke­sar po­lice, who rushed to the spot along with the rev­enue depart­ment of­fi­cials and clues team.

Dur­ing in­spec­tion, the po­lice found that there were two bod­ies. The re­mains were col­lected and sent to Gandhi Hospi­tal for post-mortem.

Based on a com­plaint from Ghatke­sar rev­enue in­spec­tor M. Venkate­sham, mur­der and caus­ing the dis­ap­pear­ance of ev­i­dence cases were booked. Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice, the bod­ies were iden­ti­fied as that of Kandiga Sushrutha, 26, and her four-month-old son. In­quiries re­vealed that she was mar­ried to Machala Ramesh, 27, in 2015.

For the last eight months, Sushrutha was liv­ing with her par­ents due to con­tin­u­ously quar­relling with Ramesh.

On Satur­day evening, she went to Up­pal to meet Ramesh, from where they went to the Outer Ring Road at Ghatke­sar. The cou­ple started ar­gu­ing there and quar­relled. Fol­low­ing that, Sushrutha al­legedly took sleep­ing pills and gave some by mix­ing it in the milk, said the po­lice.

“Ramesh, who wit­nessed this waited till the duo be­came un­con­scious and took their bod­ies to an iso­lated lay­out at Kon­da­pur, where he throt­tled and killed her. He put their bod­ies on a heap of sticks and set them ablaze,” po­lice said.
