Anti-Modi protests erupt in Gun­tur

Tel­ugu De­sam lead­ers along with a num­ber of ac­tivists staged ‘PM Modi Go Back’ protests op­pos­ing the visit of Prime Min­is­ter Naren­dra Modi to Gun­tur on Sun­day. The TD lead­ers re­leased black bal­loons in the air, dam­aged BJP flags and ban­ners and blocked roads. BJP lead­ers al­leged that the TD ac­tivists de­flated bus tyres to stop peo­ple from at­tend­ing Mr Modi’s meet­ing.

Pro­test­ers wear­ing black badges broke empty black pots against the al­leged in­jus­tice to AP by the BJP govern­ment at the Cen­tre.

Tel­ugu Yu­vatha lead­ers and ac­tivists led by state pres­i­dent Devi­neni Avinash and min­is­ter Devi­neni Umama­h­eswara Rao staged a protest at Benz Cir­cle at Vi­jayawada. They shouted slo­gans ask­ing Mr Modi to go back. The min­is­ter ob­jected to the abuse of AP Chief Min­is­ter N. Chan­drababu Naidu by Mr Modi and said that the PM had abused the peo­ple of the state as Mr Naidu had ques­tioned him be­half of the pub­lic of AP.

TD women ac­tivists led by Tade­palli ZPTC Sailaja Rani in large num­bers staged road block­ades at Tade­palli in the Amaravati cap­i­tal zone with empty clay pots ob­ject­ing to the visit of Mr Modi. TD youth led by Tel­ugu Yu­vatha leader Ravipati Saikr­ishna held a rally at Gun­tur show­ing empty black clay pots and later break­ing them. The TD lead­ers re­leased black bal­loons into the air when Mr Modi was fly­ing to Gun­tur in a he­li­copter so that he would see it.
