Anti-Modi protests erupt in Guntur

Telugu Desam leaders along with a number of activists staged ‘PM Modi Go Back’ protests opposing the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Guntur on Sunday. The TD leaders released black balloons in the air, damaged BJP flags and banners and blocked roads. BJP leaders alleged that the TD activists deflated bus tyres to stop people from attending Mr Modi’s meeting.

Protesters wearing black badges broke empty black pots against the alleged injustice to AP by the BJP government at the Centre.

Telugu Yuvatha leaders and activists led by state president Devineni Avinash and minister Devineni Umamaheswa­ra Rao staged a protest at Benz Circle at Vijayawada. They shouted slogans asking Mr Modi to go back. The minister objected to the abuse of AP Chief Minister N. Chandrabab­u Naidu by Mr Modi and said that the PM had abused the people of the state as Mr Naidu had questioned him behalf of the public of AP.

TD women activists led by Tadepalli ZPTC Sailaja Rani in large numbers staged road blockades at Tadepalli in the Amaravati capital zone with empty clay pots objecting to the visit of Mr Modi. TD youth led by Telugu Yuvatha leader Ravipati Saikrishna held a rally at Guntur showing empty black clay pots and later breaking them. The TD leaders released black balloons into the air when Mr Modi was flying to Guntur in a helicopter so that he would see it.
