Bus rams into a truck while overtaking, 2 die

Two people died and 18 others were injured after the RTC bus they were travelling rammed into a truck in Nalgonda on Sunday night. The bus was on its way from Vijayawada to Hyderabad when the driver tried to overtake the truck and accidental­ly rammed into it.

According to the police the accident occured at around 2 am on Monday.

Kattangur sub-inspector of police P. Anthireddy said, “The RTC bus left Vijayawada at about 11 pm on Sunday. When the bus reached Muthyalamm­agudem, the driver tried to overtake a truck and ended up hitting it. The conductor P. Ramakrishn­a who was sitting next to the driver died at the spot”.

There were 46 passenger at the time of the accident.

Police reached the spot and with the help of locals rushed 18 injured to Kamineni hospitals. Of the 18, a woman, Appayamma, from Jubilee Hills died in the hospital while undergoing treatment.

The cops have registered a case and further investigat­ion is underway.

TWO YOUNGSTERS from KPHB were caught with 120 gm ganja on Sunday. K. Satish, 20, a driver and Saini Nagesh, 20, an unemployed youth, were nabbed with six packets of ganja each weighing 20 gm.
