ED SLEUTHS GRILL CONGRESS LEADER, SONS

-

The sleuths of the ED questioned Telangana Congress leader Vem Nagender Reddy and his two sons on Tuesday in connection with the cash-for-votes scam.

Sleuths of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned Telangana state Congress leader Vem Nagender Reddy and his two sons on Tuesday in connection with the ‘cashfor-vote’ scam booked by the Anti-Corruption Bureau.

ED officials questioned the trio separately about the source of the `50 lakh that was offered to TS nominated Anglo Indian MLA Elvis Stephenson if he voted in favour of the Telugu Desam in the Telangana Legislative Council elections in 2015.

It is also learnt that the ED questioned Mr Reddy about the source of the remaining `4.5 crore that was promised to Mr Stephenson after he voted for the TD (if at all). The ED also questioned Mr Reddy about various financial transactions.

It has been alleged that Vem Nagender Reddy made arrangements for the money that was offered to Mr Stephenson. The then TD leader Revanth Reddy was caught red-handed making the offer of the money and was sent to prison for it who was later bailed out.

The ED has now issued fresh notices to Revanth Reddy, who is now Congress working president, to appear before it on February 19 in connection with the ‘cash-for-vote’ case registered in 2015.
