- DC CORRESPONDENT

Three transgenders and three men were arrested for assaulting the public and police at Uppal on Tuesday night. They were taken into custody for creating nuisance on the road.

The Uppal police on Wednesday received a complaint from one R. Pradeep Reddy, a senior citizen living in Tarnaka, stating that he along with his friend Ramchandra Reddy were travelling home from Nagole in a car, which had stopped at a bus stand. Two transgender persons who were travelling on a scooter stopped near the car and picked up an argument with them and hit them with stones. They also damaged the car.

When Pradeep Reddy called the police via Dial 100, four more people joined the duo and attacked them again. They took away a gold chain, a mobile phone and his purse.

Police constable A. Abhishek and home guard Lalu Naik attended to the complaint. While they were talking to the complainants, the accused assaulted the home guard and spoke to them in an indecent manner.

On receiving information, more policemen rushed to the spot and apprehended three transgenders — Simran alias Ghouse Pasha, Rakshita alias N. Rakesh and Sara alias Arepally Sai Krishna — and the three others Mohd Rasheed, T. Gopala Pavan Kumar and N. Anand.

The Uppal police said the accused were booked on charges of robbery and for assaulting the policeman and preventing them from delivering their duty. They are being remanded to judicial custody.
