COPS SECURE CUSTODY OF NRI MURDER ACCUSED
The Jubilee Hills police on Wednesday secured three-day custody of Rakesh Reddy, prime accused in the murder of NRI industrialist Chigurupati Jayaram, and his associate Srinivas. The Nampally court issued orders permitting the police to quiz them for three days till Friday.
Earlier, the Telangana police, after taking them into custody from the AP Police, had shifted the duo to Chanchalguda jail from Nandigama jail.
The Nampally court remanded them for 14 days and the police later filed a petition in the court for their custody for three days for their investigation.
According to Banjara Hills ACP K. Srinivasa Rao, the investigating officer, the police will interrogate the duo on the financial transactions between Rakesh Reddy and Jayaram. “Based on his replies and evidence, we will move forward in the case. We have investigated some of the friends of Jayaram and Rakesh Reddy and recorded their statements,” the official said.
The police will be quizzing them on issues like the mode of transaction for the `4.5 crore loan that Rakesh Reddy claimed to have given Jayaram, if there is any role of Shikha Chowdhary in the murder case since the Andhra Pradesh Police had given her a clean chit.
The Hyderabad police will also inquire into the played by the two TS police officers, since there were allegations that they had guided Rakesh Reddy in shifting Jayaram’s body to Nandigama.
