-

The Telangana High Court on Thursday issued notices to TRS party MLA Mynampalli Hanumantha Rao, Telangana police authorities and Judicial officer of Malkajgiri to respond on the plea urging damages of `5 lakh be paid for alleged illegal arrest under the repealed sections of I-T Act.

Justice P. Naveen Rao was dealing with the petition of Mr P.M. Sai Prasad, the state VicePresident of BJYM, who alleged that he was illegally arrested by the police on the insistence of the MLA and was sent to judicial remand for the offence under the repealed section 66 of IT Act.

Mr Shashi Kiran, Counsel for the petitioner, submitted that Mr Sai Prasad was illegally arrested without issuing notices to explain his contention under section 41-A Cr.P.C, on the grounds of posting of jibes against the MLA in social media.

The court asked the respondents to file reply in two weeks.
