UoH told to start

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has directed the University of Hyderabad to implement OBC reservations while making appointments and fill backlog posts under the quota. A division bench of the Telangana High Court comprising Chief Justice T.B. Radhakrishnan and Justice A. Rajasheker Reddy was dealing an appeal by a few applicants who said that the university had filled up 28 posts through a notification in 2007 without giving effect to OBC reservations. The candidates preferred an appeal before the bench urging it to nullify the recruitment made in 2007. The bench recorded that the university had expressed its resolve to implement OBC reservations in 1994 after the Centre communicated its policy through the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the ministry of human resource development. The bench said the university had to fill all OBC backlog posts in view of the central policy. The bench gave the university three months to take up follow-up action to fill the backlog posts.
