Hyderabad: The Air Intelligence Unit officials (AIU) seized 585.64 gm of gold in the form of foils wrapped around chocolates in sweet boxes at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Saturday. The cost of the gold has been estimated as `19.5 lakh. Officials scanned the bag of a passenger and found gold foils concealed inside the cardboard box containing sweets, chocolates and a photo frame. According to sources, the gold was smuggled from a Gulf country by the passenger, who fled from the place as the baggage was being scanned. Efforts are on to nab the bag’s owner, officials said.
