Prosecution against KCR withdrawn

Hyderabad: The Telangana state government had withdrawn prosecution against Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, TJS president Prof. M. Kodandaram, BJP MP Bandaru Dattatreya and 135 agitators in several cases in connection with the statehood agitation, in November last year in the run-up to the elections. The cases were lodged by the railway police against the leaders for causing hindrance to the movement of scheduled trains by calling for rail roko. The decision was taken by the state government in November which issued five GOs for the prupose. Since the GOs were issued at a time when the election code was in place, the law and legislative department kept them in abeyance. On Saturday, law secretary V. Niranjan Rao approved the release of the GOs.
