The world famous shoe designer and brand Stuart Weitzman in collaboration with diamond jewellery designer Kwiat created yet another most expensive stiletto. Featuring 1,420 30-carat brilliant-cut diamonds, the designer called them to be ‘fit for a queen’. Called aptly the Diamond Dream, the pair has two delicate circle-bands around the ankles along with an elegant toe strap coated in silver leather. The beauty made its debut on the red carpet at the 2007 Academy Awards by Anika Noni Rose. These tinkling red shoes are a replica of Dorothy’s from The Wizard of Oz that was released on the fifty anniversary of the movie. Originally made by designer Gilbert Adrain, five pairs were produced for the movie using red sequences. to recreate it, jeweller Harry Winston used 4,60 pieces of rubies and 50 carats of diamonds making it worth around $3.01 million. After about 60 days of creating it, these were unveiled at the House of the Harry Winston. Only one woman, actress-singer Judy Garland, who played the original Dorothy, has worn the slippers.

For the famous shoe designer Stuart Weitzman, actress Rita Hayworth served as an inspiration towards the creation of the Rita Hayworth Heels in the most unusual colour. Said to be unlike his other craetions, the designer chose chocolate brown colour, the inspiration behind this was Rita’s earring. The satin open toe high-heel exhibits a satin flower on each shoe that holds an earring in diamonds, sapphires and rubies belonging to Rita Hayworth. Actress and singer-songwriter Kathleen York wore them to the 2006 Academy Awards. Now the pair belongs to Hayworth’s daughter, Princess Yasmin Aga Khan.
