The TS prisons department has restricted mulakats for terror case suspects and hardcore criminals. DirectorGeneral, Prisons, Vinoy Kumar Singh said the orders were passed instinctively following the Pulawama terror attack.

The Chanchalguda jail houses 10 terror suspects of whom eight are alleged ISIS sympathisers, sources from the department said. There are up to 300 hardcore criminals in jails in the state, DIG, Prisons, Saidaiah said.

Speaking to this newspaper, Mr Singh said the movement of terror suspects were by default restricted inside the jail.

“We are maintaining surveillance on these prisoners round the clock. The motive behind the sudden restrictions following the Pulwama attack is to reform them and ensure good conduct. We are expecting them not to opt for criminal means to survive outside,” Mr Singh said.

The main motive behind such rules was reform the accused and ensure there are no prisoners left in jails.

The restrictions are effective in the Central jail in Warangal and district and sub-jails across the state apart from at Chanchalguda and Cherlapally.

The curbs would be relaxed depending on their conduct.
